Celebrating everyday experiences – Foster Care Fortnight 2026

“As Fostering Team Manager here in Pembrokeshire, I am incredibly proud to support the remarkable foster carers who make a difference every single day. This year’s Foster Care Fortnight theme, This is Fostering, shines a light on what fostering truly looks like – not just the big milestones, but the everyday experiences that shape a child’s sense of safety, belonging, and hope.

“Fostering isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about the ordinary moments that mean everything. It’s the school runs, the bedtime chats, the football practice in the rain, the reassurance after a tough day, the laughter around the kitchen table. It’s showing up – consistently, patiently, and with compassion.

“Here in Pembrokeshire, our foster carers provide stability and a safe environment for children and young people who may have experienced trauma, loss, or uncertainty. This is Fostering is about recognising that it’s the daily routines, the predictable care, and the steady relationships that help children build trust and confidence. Every packed lunch, every homework session, every lift to see friends – these moments matter.

“Fostering is a partnership. Our carers are supported by a dedicated team of social workers, education colleagues, health professionals, and the wider community. Together, we work to ensure children are not just safe, but thriving – able to enjoy childhood, build friendships, and dream about their futures.

“During Foster Care Fortnight, we celebrate the carers who open their homes and hearts, and we invite others to consider whether fostering could be part of their story too. You don’t have to be perfect – you just need the commitment to provide care, understanding, and everyday stability.

“Because fostering is not about being extraordinary.
It’s about doing the ordinary, extraordinarily well.

“This is Fostering.”
